Select Your

Add your workshops to
‘My Workshops’

Browse the schedule and add workshops to the list as you go. You can only add workshops which have room. The workshop will be removed automatically if it fills up.

Start the registration

Select your track and enter your email address

Surrey teachers will have to register with your school email address to avoid fees. Only one registration per track and email address please. See in FAQ below for details about registering at more than one site. 

Receive a confirmation email

A random code is assigned to each registration

The confirmation email provides you with the code you can use to change or cancel your registration.

Do I have to register?

Yes, everyone has to register if they want to attend any of the workshops we offer.

I would like to take one workshop at one location and another at another location. Is that possible and how to I register for them?

Yes, you can do that. You will have to register twice. For example, one registration for the Elementary workshop and one for the Secondary. You will also have to enter your personal information again. It is not possible to register for workshops at more than one location in one registration. You will have to be aware of your own scheduling conflicts if you register at more than one site. 

Do I need a second or third workshop choice?

No, by registering ONLINE you know right away if your workshop choices are available or not. There is no need for a second or third workshop choice. The system does not let you register in a workshop which is full.

Is there a waiting list for full workshops?

No, there is no waiting list for full workshops. We wish we could provide this but we are all volunteers and just don't have the capacity for it.  If spots become available due to cancellations, changes in workshop selection or an increase in capacity those are offered at a first come first serve basis. Keep your eye on the website and check back often!

Will you offer more spots in popular workshops or repeat them if they are full?

We keep an eye on the workshop registrations all the time to see which ones prove to be very popular and fill up quickly. If possible we try to add more spots by switching them to a bigger room or by adding a second offering of the same workshop. Please keep in mind that this is not always possible due to restrictions provided by the instructor or the availability of suitable rooms. We promise to do our best but it is not always possible.

Are there any fees to pay?

If you are a teacher, TOC or student teacher of School District 36 then you only have to pay kit fees for some workshops. Very few workshops have these fees so for most the attendance is free. Please see the individual workshop description if your workshop choice has a kit fee. If you are a CUPE SD36 employee, you are charged $25 for the whole day, which includes lunch.

If you are from out of the district you will have to pay a $100 fee (plus kit fees, for the few workshops that have those) to attend our convention. This also includes lunch and keynotes etc. You can find the applicable fee for you on our Fees page.

How can I pay my fees?

You can your fees ONLINE using your VISA or Mastercard in our secure payment process. Payment by cash or cheque is not available this year, unless you pay in person in advance at the STA office, where you would talk to Donna. 

How can I change my registration?

You will receive a confirmation email after you completed your registration.  This email contains a code which allows you to access your registration via the www.staconvention.ca site,  and make changes to it. Please make sure to enter a valid email address in the first place so that you will receive the confirmation email.  The server may be very busy on the first day of registration, so the email may not arrive immediately.  Please do NOT register more than once (unless it is for different sites)  as you will double-occupy in-demand workshop spots.
