The artistry and science of light

This workshop is a fascinating synergy of art, engineering, chemistry and physics.

Having engineered their own pinhole cameras, participants will embark on a series of photography sessions to 'capture light'. Developing their photos in a darkroom, revealing their artwork, participants will enhance their knowledge of chemistry, optics and of the physics of light.

Technology can be integrated by the use of various apps that can be used to enhance the photos.

Teachers will be able to use this project to directly support their students in Grade 8 Science and Physics 11. The project could be modified and augmented to support photography, mathematics and chemistry projects too.
