Artifacts Inspire Inquiry

Having worked in museums for ten years, one thing has become clear: for kids, it’s all about "the stuff".  An artifact creates engaged, curious, confused, and excited students. A single item allows students  to touch, describe, ask questions, work collaboratively, create and evaluate hypotheses, and make connections. Artifacts have a magical, unknown quality about them that makes them fantastic teaching tools. Best of all, they can be used in almost any lesson plan.

This hands-on workshop will explore how, when and why you should use artifacts (on a budget) in your classroom. Teachers will receive a handout with suggested learning activities.
