Compassion Fatigue: An experiential group

In helping professions, we are simultaneously pulled in many directions. We struggle with external demands, time pressures, political imperatives, and a feeling of powerlessness. As a way to manage, we numb our own emotions, deaden our awareness, and absorb the reactions of others. We can be left feeling uninspired, overwhelmed, and out of control. Other common responses can include anxiety, depression, and a loss of connection with ourselves and others. In this session, Carolynn will facilitate experiential group exercises and discussion which will allow you to access any current feelings of fatigue and to gain a deeper understanding of fatigue.

What to bring

Carolynn Turner

Carolynn is a counsellor, speaker and mental health advocate. She spent 15 years in the public school system teaching high school and counselling kids from K-12. She has a particular heart for those struggling with the effects of complex trauma and has had the privilege of counselling students struggling with intense behaviour/severe mental health (category R destination in schools) through various integrated and non-integrated programs in school settings.
Carolynn's passion lies in taking the time to assess the status quo and to delicately weave the balance between how things are done, how we can do them differently, and most importantly, what is in the best interest of ourselves and those we seek to support. Carolynn is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and the director and founder of Lavender Counselling in Langley.
