This workshop covers the financial aspects of retirement planning, not provided  elsewhere including: 

Government Pension Benefits: Canada Pension, Old Age Security, Guaranteed Income Supplement

Government Health Benefits: BC Medical, Fair Pharmacare

Non-Government Group Benefits:  Life insurance, dental plans, extended health benefits, travel insurance,trip interruption, life insurance

Assessing Insurance Needs: Cost of benefits, options for  health care benefits

Format:  Lecture, discussions, hands-on



Target Audience

All grades/teachers with less than 10 years to their anticipated retirement

What to bring

none required.   Teachers may bring their pension statement for after session questions.

Al Cornes

Al Cornes is currently the Chair of the BC Retired Teacher' Retirement Workshops Committee and serves on the Pension and Benefits Committee.  Al was on the BCTF staff  for 25 years in a variety of roles, including pensions officer.  He has provided dozens of pension workshops across the province.
