Discovering the Scientist in You While Exploring Science Through Inquiry.

Exploring and learning about science is best achieved through engaging, inquiry-based opportunities.  The revised science curriculum focuses on ‘hands on, minds on’ and place-based experiences that will meet the needs of all students.  Through this workshop, participants will experience some engaging scientific inquiry activities that align with the revised curriculum. Examples will be taken from the new Nelson Science K – 3 resources.  Come and uncover your inner scientist through activities you can take back and use in your classroom.

Nelson Science K-7 is a brand new made-in-BC program that fully aligns with the goals of the new science curriculum. This workshop will provide teachers with some tools on how to teach Exploration and Inquiry to deepen students' understanding of the Big Ideas, core and curriculum competencies. Links to First Peoples knowledge and perspectives will be made as well. Each participant will receive a sample lesson and a sampler from Nelson Science.
