Mindfulness for Teachers: Skills for Life and the Classroom

Many of us have heard about mindfulness and its benefits in the classroom, but what really is ‘mindfulness' and how can we implement it in our lives and classrooms? This workshop will introduce the who, what, when, where, why and how of mindfulness for teachers. It will summarize the research findings on the effects of mindfulness on adults and children, and present practices for incorporating it in our lives and classrooms. Emphasis will be placed on cultivating teachers’ own mindfulness, to help reduce stress and grow presence, calmness, compassion and joy in life and the classroom. To facilitate learning, brief periods of mindfulness practice will be included.
