Fearless 'Body Science' and Puberty Education

Elementary classroom and PE teachers are often surprised to learn that they are expected to deliver comprehensive 'body science' and puberty lesson to Elementary students. This 3-hour workshop will help support and prepare teachers to meet the needs of their students, and families. Teachers will: 
• have a chance to explore their values, attitudes and beliefs
• develop their ability to discuss safety, types of touch, and the scientific names for body parts with young students
• integrate new knowledge about puberty changes into their existing lessons
• increase their comfort with the language of sexuality, and
• explore the new Physical & Health Education curriculum

Kristen Gilbert

Kristen Gilbert is the Director of Education for Options for Sexual Health, Canada’s largest non-profit provider of sexual health services. As a sex ed teacher, Kristen delivers comprehensive sexual health education to students of all ages in a wide variety of school settings, including the public and independent schools systems, alternative programs, and for youth in custody. She also leads Opt’s vibrant professional training programs, providing support for teachers who wish to develop their capacity to connect confidently with students about their sexual health.
