Social Mediagreat workshop!

The social media workshop is designed to educate teachers about the professional and ethical use of social media tools like Facebook and Twitter. The workshop reviews the wide-ranging landscape of social media through the lens of appropriate boundaries and professional conduct. Participants will learn about the value of engaging online as an educator, best practices, and appropriate privacy settings. This workshop helps staff reps and local associations support members who are using social media or considering it.

Target Audience

K-12

Instructor

Eric Young

Eric Young has been a BCTF Facilitator for 2 years

He has taught Intermediate Grades 5-7 for the past 17 years in New Westminster.

However, although most of his experience has been in upper elementary, the workshop material will be useful for educators from K-12, as it is an introduction to, and overview of, various social media platforms.  If there is a desire (and time) he often introduces some of the web based platforms that I have used, which often leads to a chance for sharing by the group and professional connections to be made between colleagues.  The workshop also covers  some ethical and professional expectations for healthy online communication.
