Nurturing Language with Non-Fiction Picture Books K-3

In this session we will explore non-fiction picture books as a spark to ignite rich language in K-3 classrooms. We will discuss how oral language and vocabulary proficiency support literacy development and discuss classroom experiences that positively impact language learning for all children. We will look closely at how nonfiction "read alouds" support language growth and highlight "go-to" authors and series.

    Courtney Jones is connected to the literacy development of young children through her role as Inner City Early Learning Helping Teacher. 

  • Ginny Tambre

    Ginny Tambre is also connected to literacy teaching and learning through her role as SD36 Early Reading Advocate. Both Courtney and Ginny have previously worked with young learners in classroom and Early Literacy teacher positions.
