Archives 101: Local History in the Classroom

Are you looking for ways to introduce your students to their community’s history? Through this workshop, teachers will learn how to do just that. Surrey Archives houses maps, photos, oral histories and more that document Surrey’s transformation into the city we see today. During this talk delivered by archives staff, attendees will learn about Surrey Archives’ collection, services and outreach activities and how these can be used to enhance lesson planning.

    Stacey Gilkinson

    Stacey N. Gilkinson holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, and a Masters of Information in Archives and Records Management. She has held several positions with the City of Surrey Archives, serving as Assistant Archivist since 2019 and now serves as Acting Archivist.

    Jo Lee holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) English Language and Literature and a Masters of Archival Studies. She taught English before beginning her career at the City of Surrey Archives. She has been serving in the role of Archives Collections Assistant since 2019.
