This workshop will be in person at A Rocha-an environmental stewardship organization located within Surrey. Participants will join Julia Thompson, artist and educator from Victoria to explore combining local stories from the Sto:lo Nation with place-specific story workshop mats, Numeracy Helping Teacher, Jess Kyle to learn about ways to teach Math outdoors, or Indigenous Helping Teachers Cheryl Corrick and Allison Hotti and Roth Des Cotes, education coordinator with A Rocha. Participants will have a choice of workshops on convention day.
Elementary
A Rocha is located at 1620 192 Street.
Workshop will start at 9:30. Wear clothing suitable for being outdoors. Lunch will be provided.
Julia has been an early primary teacher in Surrey, the UAE and now Victoria. She brings her passion for combining story workshop with outdoor education and bringing the outdoors in.
Allison is an Indigenous Helping Teacher with Surrey and is passionate about focusing on local Sto:lo stories through outdoor education.
