Connecting Kids to Forests

Take children outside and reap the benefits of place-based learning in nature - you don't need to be an expert naturalist to use the outdoor classroom effectively! This workshop includes experiential strategies, practical teaching tools, and group management tips. We will explore cross-curricular activities that heighten sensory awareness, focus learning, and use critical inquiry skills to engage students with nature and the world around them. Dress for the weather outside. Digital Activity Guide provided after workshop.

    Vanessa Lee

Vanessa is passionately involved with anything green, watery or mountainous! This love affair started 20 years ago with tracking snakes in Ontario Provincial Parks and continues through work at the Vancouver Aquarium and Metro Vancouver Regional Parks. Her Masters of Ecological Education and work as a Richmond classroom teacher help her to connect classroom learning to outdoor nature spaces. Vanessa is dedicated to connecting people to nature’s awe and wonder. Vanessa's hope is to inspire care of place and wild things.
