INTERMEDIATE Discover BC's Agriculture with GIS Mapping - an Interactive Tool for Classroom Engagement

Join BC Agriculture in the Classroom in exploring the brand new Grow BC GIS map resource. This fully updated tool allows for interactive exploration of all of the agriculture commodities produced in BC, and is our most in demand new tool! This workshop will start with an introduction to GIS mapping in the classroom, continuing to a step by step tour of three agriculture commodity Story Maps. Participants will leave with a timed virtual scavenger hunt activity that can be sent to students as a learning tool.

    Growing up on a working cattle ranch near Williams Lake, BC, Amy brings first-hand agricultural experience to the position of Education Specialist. Amy was a member of the BC 4-H program for 11 years and continues her involvement as an alumni volunteer. She has worked in several schools in Chilliwack, teaching humanities and home economics at the middle school level. Amy is passionate about agriculture education and giving teachers and students a taste of farming right in their own backyards.
