Join Inclusive Practices Helping Teacher, Nicole Curtis, and Secondary School Counsellor, Edmund Szutu, in learning the basics about what it means to be LGBTQ2+, as well as how to practice allyship in educational settings. This mini session will include time to reflect on & discuss our understandings of human diversity, identifying and responding to discrimination in schools, and the powerful role SOGI can play in creating safe and inclusive learning spaces for all members of community.

Nicole Curtis (she/they), the Inclusive Practices Helping Teacher for Surrey School District, works primarily with SOGI and other aspects of inclusion across the district. Nicole has worked in SD36 for 12 years, teaching in both elementary and secondary settings. They grew up in Surrey as well, and so are very passionate about serving the local community through social justice and education.
Edmund Szutu (he/him) is a school counsellor at Guildford Learning Center in SD36. As a SOGI Lead, Edmund is passionate about creating safe and welcoming school communities for students of all identities.
